We would love to invite you to come and see our new paintings and prints at Back Lane West gallery in Redruth this weekend 25th and 26th October.
The private view is from 12noon to 4pm on Saturday 25th (beginning of half term) - if you come all the way to Redruth we will treat you to home made cake and posh tea in tea pots.
Back Lane West is easy to get to by train and easy to park (parking Station Hill).
9 Back Lane West TR15 2BT.
Hope to see you there.
Mike and Lou Brett.
Mike is an art teacher at Penair School, and has really enjoyed creating work for this exhibition. Lou is the associate artist within Shallal Studios and supports it through bid writing and planning. She divides her time and skills between Pipeline Theatre, Shallal and her print making, and has been working hard to wards this exhibition. They both studied at Falmouth Art School and moved back to Falmouth some years ago.
I am looking forward to seeing their exhibition today.
Residency last week.
Melanie has had a fantastic week, gone in the studio closed the door, loved the space and worked solidly. She has created 4 large paintings and already had great feedback and more doors opening.
Melanie works hard as a community artist so this was time to immerse herself in her own work. Shallal Dance Theatre and Shallal Studio artists have just completed 3 workshops with her within our Wardrobe Project, silk screen textile printing and painting, which we loved.
Next week,
we have some clear studio days and our son Michael Willis is planning to go and do some large drawings. Michael is studying at Truro College on the Art and Design Diploma.
Anna and Annis may go out - at dawn! - to film at Porthmeor Beach for a Shallal 2 performance coming up on Thursday 18th December 6pm at Falmouth Art Gallery, perhaps we will also film in the space?
Hannah from Folklore, Brewers Yard, Falmouth was thinking of using the space to create bowls with friends for a shared meal, a lovely idea but we may not have time this time round. As i write this i wonder whether my family half term might let me get in to do large drawings - who knows.
