Eddie Callis from APEX who also works with Shallal 2 and was an artist at Back Lane West residency sent us this interesting link.
We had an exciting and constructive meeting yesterday, with Henrietta Boex, a new Shallal trustee and director of Falmouth Art Gallery, Melanie, Lou and Laura.
We talked of forthcoming residencies, potential research and development towards a permanent studio space including inclusive collaborations and practise. We know they work, now we need to trial how it can be sustainable, increase our shared studio experience and ways for making the work more public and visible. I fancy a pavement art exhibition - but I think that might be a flight of fancy? Oli Raymond Barker was unable to come but we had a good chat the day before and are dreaming and scheming projects and possibilities. http://oliverraymondbarker.co.uk/?p=438 http://www.exeter.ac.uk/esi/people/raymond-barker/ Oli and I hope to develop our creative relationships and the potential for cross art form collaborations with improvising musicians and artist/photographers: Jamie Mills www.jamiemills.co.uk , George Bradley Peer and some Shallal Dance Theatre dancers. We all know each other and each others work but having the time to give to a collaboration is what we need to discuss. I am very excited about this as it will develop our work with many forms of photography and image projection and musical and dance responses. I also met lovely Alexandra and Paul recently who are old friends of Shallal and hope we may dream some ways of working and supporting each other and promoting artists and different practise. www.zierlecarterliveart.com So looking forward to our workshop today with Sean, second and last Upcycling session and then onto Costume with Zoe, Toby and six others for two workshops. A good way to start the New Year!
Had a wonderful unexpected excited conversation with Melanie from Back Lane West residency yesterday. We bumped into each other at Falmouth Art Gallery. We plan to form a steering group and dream and vision for the Studios! So much potential just need to earth it, all possible. "Here are the pictures from our mini field trip out to Newlyn Harbour.
of Zoe drawing grey boat across the harbour. I love her hidden slightly in the nets here, fitting for the situ! Joined by Sam Then group of us, By then it was freezing and a wind blowing, which Zoe thought was hilarious as I tried to do her hood up!" photos and comments by Demelza |
