Shallal Studio Artists
Although Shallal Studios has only recently moved into it's first permanent home, it first came into being in 2012, when the John Daniels Centre, Penzance lent Shallal a temporary room where founder members Zoe Wilton, Toby Bridge and Sam While established a studio practice with the support of facilitator Laura Wild.
Having enjoyed a studio space for a time, there was no going back, and Shallal has been developing the studio via one-off projects and residencies such as Back Lane West and Porthmeor ever since, growing into a bigger group of artists year-on-year. The studio has been joined by an incredibly diverse range of artists, some exploring their creative voice for the first time, some life-long artists and makers, all with very different practices and challenges, making for a rich and inspiring mix, where all can learn from each other in a culture of mutual support and respect.
In the first five months of the new Krowji studio, around forty people came in and used the studio, many of them every week. Some of our longer-standing artists have their own page on this website, with more being added over time. To see their work, follow the drop down box under 'Artists' along the top bar.
