Shallal Studios was established to meet the need for a more ambitious platform for the Inclusive Arts in Cornwall

Newly situated at Krowji creative hub, Redruth, Shallal Studios aims to provide an ongoing inclusive visual art resource for our communities and artists.

Who is it for?
Our accessible, ground floor space offers a supported communal studio environment with opportunities to work with artist-mentors, encouraging a culture of peer support. It is ideal for emerging artists, those who want to return to making art after a long break and those who need support.

Participants gain experience by exploring new mediums, exhibiting with new  people in new places and collaborating in group projects. Our excellent facilities mean that, as well as drawing and painting we can offer screen printing, relief printing, photography and digital art. We can often respond to
participants' suggestions by offering new mediums.

The Studio offers marketing support and a web presence,
raising the profile of projects, exhibition and artists.

How do I get involved?
If you are interested in attending the studio please contact Lou or Phoebe on shallalstudios@gmail.com. We will arrange for you to come in and see the studio and have a chat about what might work for you and for us.
We don't charge a day rate for using the studio, materials and equipment, but we ask for a donation of between £5-£15 a day depending on what you can afford, and we won't turn you away if £5 is too much. We value energy exchange and in-kind help.

We are looking for volunteer artists to support a facilitator to run groups. If you are interested in volunteering with us in exchange for free studio space when the studio is empty, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Lou or Phoebe at shallalstudios@gmail.com.

Who are we?
Shallal Studios is part of Shallal, an inclusive dance and arts charity which has been working in communities in Cornwall for over thirty years. We are an innovative and dynamic people-centered organisation, dedicated to sharing what the arts can offer to all people. Charity number 1166404.

Shallal Studios steering group includes artists Lou Brett, Phoebe Barnicoat , along with Jo Willis - Shallal Creative Director and Henrietta Boex - Shallal Trustee and Director of Falmouth Art Gallery. The studio is funded by Reaching Communities England; part of the National Lottery Community Fund.

We are grateful to Derwent for providing us with a generous range of artist's pencils and to Booths Print in Penryn for their ongoing donations of paper and card.
