Connect and Create

Connect and Create is our new programme in response to the current period of social isolation. Shallal's art studio is currently closed but we are continuing to work remotely together in a wide range of creative ways.

Watch our accessible art videos to make art at home!

In January 2020 Shallal Studios took part in a Shallal residency at Newlyn Art Gallery; an exciting opportunity to exhibit at a major Cornish gallery to mark the end of out pilot project 'Expanding Limits', and to collaborate creatively with others in Shallal.

Shallal Dance Theatre performed their 'Embodied  Space' pioneering improvised dance performance, bathed in a saturated coloured light environment by light artist Peter Freeman and live soundscape by George Clement Peer. Shallal Studios artists were represented within the show throughout the gallery spaces and the cafe with paintings, screen prints and relief prints.
'Expanding Limits' was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, the Clare Milne Trust, the Sylvia Waddilove Foundation and Cornwall Community Foundation Lord St Levan Fund.
